Basic Skills - Current ActivitiesThe Testbed Learning Co-ordinator based here can arrange basic skills courses for adults in the local community. The Switch on Shropshire IT exquipment can be used by outside learning providers to facilitate basic skills courses, or by the general public for drop-in use to further their own skills.
Employers - Current ActivitiesWe regularly have learning provider using our venue to conduct training courses for a variety of occupations, eg pre-school classroom assistants, sports coaching, first aid for sports coaches, foos and hygiene, health and safety, IT training. These are just some of the recent ones, we are open to any type of training being provided here.
Training Provider - Current ActivitiesLudlow College, Pre-school Learning Alliance, Bishops Castle Community College, South Shropshire Voluntary Action, Countryside Agency, Defre, Advantage West Midlands, Shropshire Sports Partnership, and others. In addition, until end of March 2006 we have a project worker based here running a testbed learning community centre for Craven Arms and the outlying villages.
Community Buildings - Current ActivitiesWe have rooms and facilities of varying sizes for hire plus a sports hall. A pre-school has its own suite and is used mornings in term time. Arrangements can be made for it to be used a a creche facility in afternoons. We are a Switch on Shropshire Broadplace and have IT equipment available which can be used in most rooms of the building, including internet purposes as we are wireless networked. We manage bookings for the hard court area outside the Community Centre on behalf of Craven Arms Playing Fields Assoication. This area is suitable for 5-a-side, tennis, basketball and netball.
Specialist Expertise On Issues That Can Affect Learners - Current ActivitiesAn 'Extend' exercise class is held each week for adults with learning difficulties. Our Sports Officer has become a 'Walking for Health' leader. We always ensure community groups using the centre, such as Homestart, the pre-school, and others are notified and included as much as possible in any courses/activities which promote family learning, healthy eating, creative art workshops, sports activities etc.
